Admission Process

Making a difference

The Indus International Community School (IICS) is a high tech enabled, equal-opportunity school that provides equal learning facilities to underprivileged children. The IICS campus was inaugurated in June, 2010 and the school's syllabus is based on the Karnataka State Board's recommendations but delivered through international best practices, systems, and pedagogy.

The primary aim for admission to the school is to provide quality education for the rural poor living below the poverty line (BPL). The admissions for Grade 1 start in the month of January and are closed by the month of March of the academic year, on the basis of availability of seats, the other Grades are filled up. The academic year begins in the month of May as per the norms prescribed by the Department of Education, Government of Karnataka.

The medium of instruction is English and the students hail from nearby peri-urban areas and urban slums. Most of the students are from low socio-economic background, including children with physical disabilities and minor learning disabilities, children of single mothers and a few orphans. Preference is given to the children of widows from economically poor regions, and 50% of the places are designated for girls. The local orphanage’s students are also enrolled in the school.

These children receive two nutritious meals in the school (breakfast and lunch) everyday, including working Saturdays which are half days. Regular health camps are organized for all the students of the school, and all eligible students have received vaccination for Corona virus. There are trained medical staff available throughout the school timing for the children through the infirmary of IISB.

A contribution between Rs.5000 to Rs.10000 per child every year is requested from the parents as a token charge, however when the parents are unable to pay that, the remaining money comes from the charitable donations of Indus parents, teachers, and businesses. Over and above the school fees contribution by the parents, the maintenance is carried out by donations received by the Indus Charity Trust. All of the students receive free transportation, meals, school uniforms, shoes, socks, bags, textbooks, and stationery.
